Double Checking Essays with Speakonia

When you are writing an essay or long paper, it is worth your time to double check the writing. Often, when reading in your head, you miss many mistakes. Reading the essay out loud helps find mistakes, but what if you do not want to read it aloud? You can use Speakonia, a text-to-speech program to read the essay for you.
  1. Go to http://download.cnet.com/Speakonia/3000-7239_4-10125328.html and download Speakonia, a free text-to-speech program.
  2. Go to http://www.cfs-technologies.com to get the free registration code since the project was cancelled.
  3. Set the voice to Mike. It is the most natural voice.
  4. In the tools menu, enable clipboard reading.
  5. With the program open, highlight the entire essay and press CTRL + C.
  6. Mike should begin reading the text.
  7. Deselect the text and fix errors as you find them.
  8. Alternatively, you can copy and paste the text into Speakonia and switch back to the document when Mike reads an error.
