How to Block Websites in Windows (No Programs Needed)

How to block websites in Windows without using third-party programs:
  1. Open the Start menu.
  2. Search for Notepad.
  3. Right-click and select Run as administrator.
  4. File > Open...
  5. Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\.
  6. Switch the file type to All Files (*.*).
  7. Open the file called hosts.
  8. Begin a new line below the '#' section. Start the line with: 127.0.0.1
  9. Add one space and then type the domain without http:// or www. For example: website.com
  10. The final entry should look like this: 127.0.0.1 website.com
  11. Save the file.
  12. Open a web browser and go to the blocked website. It should display a connection error and therefore be "blocked".

How to Disable Cortana and Web Search in the Windows 10 Anniversary Update

How to disable Cortana and web search in the Start menu of the Windows 10 anniversary update:
  1. Open the Start menu.
  2. Search for regedit.exe and press enter.
  3. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Windows Search.
  4. If the Windows Search folder does not exist, create it by right-clicking on the Windows folder and then New > Key.
  5. Create the following entries by right-clicking in the empty space and using New > Key: AllowCortana, AllowSearchToUseLocation, ConnectedSearchUseWeb, ConnectedSearchUseWebOverMeteredConnections, DisableWebSearch.
  6. Leave all of them with the default value of 0, except for DisableWebSearch, which you need to right-click, Modify..., and set the value to 1.
  7. Allow some time for the changes to take effect.

qBittorrent: How to View Upload/Download Ratio

How to view the all time upload/download ratio in qBittorrent v3:
  1. Open qBittorrent.
  2. Go to View > Statistics.
  3. In the User statistics section, you will find the Global ratio.
  4. You can also view ratios for individual files in the Ratio column on the main screen.
  5. If you do not see this column, right-click on the "Name, Size, etc." area and select Ratio.
