How to check if there are updates to Piriform CCleaner v5.

Open CCleaner.
In the bottom-right corner, click Check for updates.
The update website will open.
Scroll to the bottom and click No thanks to the upgrade offer.
Click the download button for the free version.
On this page, you can find the release notes and compare the version number with the one in the top-left of the application to ensure that the download is an update.
At the time of writing, the download button links to FileHippo. Click Download Latest Version on this website.
Open the installer file and click next repeatedly, making sure to stop at any sponsor offers or advertisements and choose not to install whatever it is they want to install.
When the installer is done, click Finish. The new version of CCleaner is ready to use.
