- Click on the settings icon.
- Choose Configure inbox.
- Deselect the Social, Promotions, Updates, and Forums checkboxes and click Save.
- Click the settings icon once more and open the Settings link.
- Under the General tab, set People Widget to Hide the people widget.
- For Personal level indicators, set No indicators.
- Switch to the Labels tab.
- Set everything to hide, and then set the mailboxes that you use most in addition to the inbox, such as Sent Mail, to show.
- Switch to the Inbox tab.
- Set Importance markers to No markers.
- Switch to the Chat tab.
- Set it to Chat off.
- Click Save Changes.
- Return back to the inbox and notice how clean yet functional it looks.
